The life I live
1966, written by Bieler/Nuyens/Baar/Roelofs/Vink
once we were on Joops wedding
we smoked and drink all night
at twelve we were thrown out
'cos the house was changed into a crowd
Sung in very dutch english, The life I lived was a quite a big hit in the Netherlands. In the 60s there was quite an intense music scene in the Hague, also referred to as the "haagse beat". Q65 was founded in 1965 and lasted until 1967, when one of the main members had to join the army for his duty. In this time period they had several hits and made the album revolution. In 1970 they got back together again and this time they lasted until 1974. Because of their rough looks and sleazy music style, they were considered enfant terribles. The errors in the lyrics of this songs are very literal translations of dutch expressions and sentences.
Trivia: one of the bands mentioned by Kurt Cobain as major inspiration
